Communication is key to everything we do and enjoy.

It could mean a joke with a friend, an eloquently delivered argument or an accurate instruction. Eating and drinking are two more of life’s pleasures, and of course, fundamental to life itself. All of these can be affected by a range of conditions such as stroke, head injury, stammering, cluttering, voice disorder, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons Disease or anxiety.

Speech and Language Therapy (SLT)

SLT is used to treat a wide range of speech and language problems as well as eating and drinking disorders. SLTs can help with articulation, fluency, voice production, spoken language, written language, understanding of speech, understanding of writing, non-verbal communication and confidence.

As all these factors all inter-relate, a holistic approach usually works best.

Solution Focused Therapy (SF)

Solution Focused Therapy is a talking therapy used in many disciplines, not just SLT.  It is very effective in quickly getting to the heart of the issue, and then helping the individual to identify the most useful strategies to move forward.

Emma Osei-Mensah uses an SF approach alongside traditional SLT techniques. The result is a client-led and positive form of therapy.  Explore the website to find out more.
